In this review, I share my 20-year journey to finally completing The Fellowship of the Ring, which began with my grandfather’s last gift to me before he died. My connection to Lord of the Rings began before I was born. My older sister is named after the town of Bree, and I have a niece named after the books. But it’s really been the Amazon series, The Rings of Power, that gave me the drive to delve deeper into Middle-Earth. That or entering my epic fantasy girldom. I’ll take either option.

I’m glad it took me so long to read the series, though. I can appreciate the writing, the imagination, and the story on a deeper level. Maybe it’s also because my autism is showing — I can get into the weeds better. I’ll take them all as wins.

And if you’re wanting to jump into the series now — some hidden passion is bubbling up — I recommend taking it in little chunks. I read about 10 pages a day. This gives you the time to absorb Tolkien’s writing, because this mother#%$ doesn’t skimp. Every sentence, word choice, and moment is jam-packed.

Happy Reading.

Love,

Kait
