  • This was definitely a surprise for me. I was worried about accepting the ARC in case I hated it. But hey, it was the most horrory book on the list I was given.

  • An interesting premise. I liked that she was the inspiration for a horror film and had to live out the notoriety.

  • At times, the story was drawn out while, at other times, it could have used more depth. This could be due to it being YA and I’m not used to reading that genre anymore.

  • The horror rating is low. More thriller than scary. Some gore is involved, so please check your triggers.

  • There were some heart-pounding moments.

  • A very quick read. Again… a key to the YA genre. Need something for a 24-hour read-a-thon or to boost your numbers? Pick up a YA book.

  • I appreciated the mom’s representation of chronic illness, but it was a convenient way to get her out of the story.

  • The romance was eh. Their past was ignored.

  • The ending was slightly satisfying.

  • There is a smile on my face after reading this book, but I’m wondering what I actually liked about it. Why am I smiling? I was annoyed at times. Still, I think I did love it. Maybe it was the setting. Maybe it was the idea. Maybe I really wanted to see how it turned out.

  • Slight wild west vibes.

  • As the characters tried to figure things out, the discoveries were believable. These kids were not out of their depth. Their breadth of knowledge seemed fair. They didn’t have some huge discovery. It was natural and real. Also, a reason why I felt the drag at times.

  • A character study of being the final girl in a different way.

  • All I’m going to say as a semi-spoiler is what a viscous girl.

  • A believable story. I appreciate that. Things lined up, and there wasn’t some big, you’re so lucky moment. This could honestly happen to any of us.

  • I want to see this mine.

  • Will there be a book 2? Only time will tell. Or Reddit.

  • The story is different. All the stars for not recycling the same shit that’s out there. Either that or I haven’t read enough books.

Happy Reading.

Love,

Kait
