Hello friends!

In this blog, I’m reviewing That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming. As usual, the first half of the review will be spoiler-free, and more about my overall thoughts. The second half will contain spoilers, so look away if you haven’t read the book yet.

  • One of these days I’ll stop saying that I picked this book up on a whim from the library.

  • But who doesn’t look at this cover and say it screams Kait? Bright colors. Eye-catching art. The title. I had to give it a try and I’m so happy that I did.

  • The story is unique while still familiar. And I think this is what makes it a superb title for the romantasy genre. It’s heavy on the romance, while having that fantasy backstory. The adventure is large but contained (so don’t worry if you’re not a fantasy reader). Lemming has an amazing skill of weaving in the world-building. I never felt like I was juggling a lot (*cough* The Failures). I wasn’t sure how the entire adventure was going to fit into such a small book, but Lemming did a great job twisting the plot to make the story believable and quick.

  • Hilarious. I’m jealous of Lemming’s writing. Lemming, if you’re reading this, will you teach me??????

  • Surprisingly, the book had a lot of depth for being so small.

  • One word… dragons.

  • I’ve already read the second book.

  • Well-worded descriptions that played on the five senses.

  • Foodie fiction.

  • Cozy read. It's a little heavier than Legends and Lattes but along the same vein of a comfort read. Curl up in front of a fire and get cozy.

  • Too sex-heavy (I can’t believe I’m saying that). I wanted more plot, especially for the length of the story.

  • If you’re looking for a book to pad your reading numbers at the end of the year, this is the book for you. It’s a quick read.

Now look away if you don’t want spoilers.

  • I don’t have any spoiler content.

  • The story was short and sweet and was too short for big reveals.

  • I appreciated the characters.

  • I loved that Fallon turned out to be a dragon.

Happy Reading!

Love,

Kait
